Mexico’s Day of the Dead is decidedly undead as relatives eat, drink and get merry with the souls of the dearly departed in celebration of All Souls Day on 2 November. Spirits are guided back to the homes of their loved ones with brilliant displays of flowers and candles at gravesides. Beautiful decorated altars are also erected in their honor. Mexico has so much to offer, apart from the day of the dead, you can just dream away walking between the Maya temples hidden in the rain forest at Palenque, of enjoy the mystic at Chichen Itza around the equinox.
I highly recommend taking the trip at the 21 of March or 22 of September to see the spectacle of Chichen Itza Equinox
